Hey Everyone!
So this week not much went on. It's been a pretty hard week for me.
I've been having nightmares a lot and I don't know this week just
broke me and I couldn't sleep. So I went and got a priesthood blessing
from one of the Elders in my district. I was scared to sleep that
night but I finally got to sleep and I've been sleeping like a baby
ever since! I absolutely love the priesthood and the power! For those
who hold the priesthood and worthy. Thank you! I have ways had the
priesthood in my life and I know how it's blessed me! It's an amazing
power! π
Another thing that has happened this week was we may or may not have
bed bugs! π Sister Blau and I just call them the mysterious bugs. So
we have been cleaning our nasty apartment all week! It's amazing how
we just cleaned a little and we could just feel the spirit feel the
room! It was awesome! I can't wait until we clean more and have more
of the spirit! We're also getting it sprayed, that'd be nice too!
It's been a very trying week! Nobody wants to talk to us! I just want
to go out on one of the roads and yell "who wants blessing" or "who
wants the truth"! Everyone needs to know this wonderful gospel! It'll
make you feel full and have hope! Why wouldn't they or you want that??
It's okay though the Lord will prepare them and then they will want to
talk to us! π
It's also been hard being away from family this Easter season! Easter
is my favorite holiday and it was hard not spending it at home, but we
do also have amazing members here who I got to spend it with! Also
Sister Blau has been great! I love her! ππ I've also eaten a ton of
food and candy last week so I need to exercise a lot this week πππ
Mom you'll be so proud of me! I've eaten every food I've been given!
Mushrooms are still disgusting, but I ate them anyway and without
making me icky face! π Also vegetables... Yeah I'll be getting over
my pickiness quite fast here in Tennessee!
Well I love you all and thank you for your prayers, love, and support!
You are all amazing! ππ Just remember the church is true, the book
is blue, and I love you! ππ

Week 4 -- South Knox
So this week has had its ups and downs.. Lots of walking for sure and some very pretty scenery and great laughs and a lot of getting to know you for Sister Blau and I!
Monday
It was pday and pday is always fun! It was President Griffin's 50th birthday so we threw him a surprise party! He ruined it of course by being stubborn and not wanting to come and sneaking on the stage to peek into the gym but he had a great time! I did too! I got to talk to family and friends which is always nice! I get really stressed out though because there is a lot of people to talk to so if you're emailing me be very patient π
Tuesday
We did a ton of walking and tracting! I have a ton of blisters on my feet! π We walked over maybe 6 or so miles in the blazing hot sun!
Also it m kind of dumb sometimes so I had a like a suit jacket on and I couldn't take it off because my shirt was cap sleeved! So that sucked! We did meet a few people! Sherrelle was my favorite she is so lively it's awesome! She also loves our Savior now if we could get her to our church that'd be great! π Everyone in this area is very religious and they love Christ which is awesome! Now it's just hard to get them to the right church! π For dinner that was also a very great part! We ate with the Harris family! They are so funny and sweet! I just love them so much! I finally felt at home here with them! It reminded me of my house how we're a bunch of goofballs! It was awesome! π
Wednesday
This morning we had our weekly planning! It was super helpful because me and Sister Blau are really starting to get to know each other now so we're talking more which is great! We drove a lot today! To the prettiest place I've seen so far in this great place of Knoxville!
Like it was way pretty pictures don't do it justice! Now if only the trees had their leaves it would be so much prettier! We only have 3 investigators so we're looking for more and checking on our in-actives! Nobody is really interested but that's okay, they will be sometime! Just gotta plant a seed!
Thursday
We did a lot more walking today! It was fun! Sister Blau and I are opening up more and getting closer! It's awesome! Our Heavenly Father really does answer prayers for sure! We went to visit people but same old same old, nobody would answer. We finally went over to the Bundy's house for Sister Blau and her old companion's investigator Tab! He had his interview with President Griffin and it went awesome and he's getting baptized on Saturday! I'm so excited for him!
Friday
We did a lot of studying! We also had district meeting. It was alright, I really don't know the Elders and everyone is so close because they've been out for about the same time and I'm just the greenie, but whatever I'll get there! We tried to visit some people and the First Lady we went to, Rhonda, was outside so we talked with her and we had an awesome lesson about the Book of Mormon and how it was written for us and how we can apply it into our lives! It was awesome!
I had a major change of heart (I guess you could call it that) but I am reading the Book of Mormon and I haven't been putting in a lot of effort! Then Sister Blau inspired me to read the Book of Mormon with a purpose! I can't wait to tell ya'll how it goes! I'm so excited!
Saturday
Well we didn't do much! We did studying and my study was awesome! I'm "feasting" on the Book of Mormon! It's awesome! We didn't really do much today but basically walk around! It's been a hard couple weeks because nobody wants to talk to us. It makes me sad because I just want to share the gospel with everyone! Everyone deserves to be happy and have Christ in their lives but I guess they're not ready yet...
The baptism for Tab was super awesome! I'm so glad I got to be a part of it and meet one of the greatest guys on Earth! Tab is truly amazing! The first time I met him he told me the Book of Mormon was written for him and I just got in on it. I want my testimony of the Book of Mormon that strong someday and I'm working toward it now! π
Sunday
We had church and Tab received the Holy Ghost! He was so excited! I'm so happy for him! There was no way that smile was coming off of his face! Church was good sacrament was the best well it always is but I enjoy sacrament more than class! π After church we had a missionary meeting and we decided we are just gonna come out and just tell the ward to be friendly! This ward is great just they all don't have a relationship with each other. They need just a good talkin to I guess!
π We had dinner with the Bishop's family! It was awesome! They're going to be great missionaries one day! They have a bunch of people, well two, that they want us to teach! I'm so excited! π
So like a good missionary I'm going to leave all ya'll with a challenge! Feast on the Book of Mormon if you haven't already! I don't care if you're a member, non-member, less active, or whatever you may be! Do it and you won't regret it! It's because I love you I encourage you to do this! ππ
I love you all so much and thanks for all the love, support, and prayers! I've really felt it all out here in the great land of Tennessee! Talk to you next week! π
Love,

Two Sister Jacob's in the TKM
Sister Karissa Jacob sent her first email from Tennessee and there was on picture that was funny it was her and another Sister. My husband said why would she be wearing Karissa's name tag. Well a few days later I got a message on FB with that message from the other Sister Jacob's mom. So we started talking and she shared the story of her last name. What a sweet family!!
This is what her mom sent me.
Originally from Shiprock NM the Navajo reservation. I converted in 2005 and my kids were smaller then, but we're continuing to grow in the church. Funny thing is we have a totally different last name but because the missionaries in the area couldn't pronounce it, they gave my grandfather the last name of Jacob. This had to be in the 1950s or so.

"Greenie" Package
Sent Sister Jacob a "Greenie" package. Full of snacks and thoughts from our Relief Society theme - Because we love Him.... This package was fun because St. Patrick's Day was the same week so I made sure it arrived on that day.

Week 3 - Week 1 in Tennessee!!
Hiya everyone!
Well I'll start off by finishing what happened in the MTC! I love the
MTC a lot I always had the spirit and I was able to make some of the
best friends I've ever had! I finally started warming up to everyone,
but it was on Sunday and Monday, my last two days at the MTC! Sorry
MTC family you know part of Sister Jacob, the part that is super
quiet!
I had the best companion in the world! Sister Turner was amazing and
psycho crazy! I love her guts! Everyone was like you're total
opposites! Why are you companions? Turns out we weren't so different
after all! She avoided me Tuesday morning because she didn't want to
say good bye! It was really annoying but understandable, I didn't want
to say good bye either!
So the highlight of the MTC was when my dear sweet Sister Turner was
singing the theme song to the Fresh Prince of Bell Air in the bathroom
and an investigator heard her! So when we walked out of the bathroom
we saw this lady just standing there watching us and it was super
awkward. She then told us that she heard us singing and wanted an
autograph! It was way funny, but she was actually there because the
missionaries that were supposed to be teaching her were sick so she
came over to our building to be taught and she wanted us to teach her!
It went amazing! Her name is Anne Parkes and she is from Nashville,
Tennessee so it was meant to be! The next day we taught her as a
district and Brother Wright (our teacher) asked her if she would be
baptized! She was unsure at first us then I shared 2 Timothy 1:7 with
her and then she said yes! So my first baptism (sort of) was in the
MTC! She is awesome!
Then on Tuesday bright and early me and a few of my zone family and
some other missionaries started our new adventure to
Georgia/Tennessee! It was a pretty stressful morning but after we got
settled on the plane it was nice and relaxing! They told us the
missionaries wouldn't sit by each other but we were all next to each
other which was great! I wasn't quite ready to talk to strangers yet!
We arrived at the mission home and President and Sister Griffin are
the absolute best! I've been so worried about the food but I'm pretty
sure my mom has messaged everyone in Tennessee about what a picky
eater I was because the food here is fantastic! My first night I had
my favorite! French Dips! It was like saying welcome home for 18
months! We also got to go to bed early at the mission home! It was
great!
The next day I got my new companion and area! I'm serving in the
Knoxville South area! It's great and I'm serving with Sister Blau! She
is very athletic and we are very much alike! So it's pretty quiet in
the car, apartment, basically anywhere except lessons! Tennessee makes
me motion sick quick! The roads are super windy, hilly, and narrow!
It's like an "Heart of Dixie" San Francisco!
The highlights of the week have been with my new investigators! The
Yang family and Campbell family! I have committed Allie Yang and Brian
Campbell to be baptized and they both said yes! We don't have dates
for them yet but we will soon! My comp and some members that help us a
lot were super impressed! They call me Sister Awesome! I wouldn't have
had the courage to do so if it wasn't for my Heavenly Father, Jesus
Christ, the Holy Ghost, and my great MTC teachers Brother Wright and
Sister Linford!
I love Tennessee and the people! It's been a little slow but I'm sure
the work will start picking up soon! I learned quite a bit in this
short 3 weeks of being a missionary! My favorite lesson is Alma 26:12
"Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore
I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his
strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we
have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever."
I am only a servant I and nothing without my Savior!
Well I love you all and I hope your week/day go great! Keep smiling!
Love and miss you! Sorry it's so long just so much happened!

First week at the MTC!
Hello one and all!
Oh man, Oh man! I can't believe how fast this week has gone! It didn't feel like that at first, but it has really sped up now! So I am going to be truthful! You all will know how I am actually doing even if it's bad. I do really miss you all so much and I've been praying for you all and I hope it's been working! I've been praying a lot for my self too! I have never prayed so much in my life it's insane! So I have cried at least 6 times here, one because I missed you all and the rest because I was laughing so hard! My district are the funniest people in the world! I love them so much and I've only known them for 5 days! Now to my week!
Wednesday
My family dropped me off and it was quiet and awkward, but hey like everyone said it's like we're going to a funeral, except I'm not dead so you can all breathe now! ;) So the MTC moves really fast and I was so stressed when I got dropped off and I like couldn't breathe because we were moving so fast! They weren't kidding when they said that you hit the sidewalk running! So we got into class and met our teachers and our district! We were all awkward, but we are now family which is awesome!
Thursday
More class! I hate waking up so early! I felt like I had no sleep and it was horrible and I was like yup I'm going home because I want to sleep. Jk, but that's how I felt a little! =D We stayed in class all day. I thought all my missionary friends were messing with me when they said that we spent a lot of time in class, but nope it's insane how much time in class we do spend! I kind of had a mental break down by the end of the night and I took it out on my whole district then I went and bawled my eyes out. Don't worry I went back and apologized, then we had a major vent session on what we missed about our families and we just got to know each other more! It was a very cool experience and we have become so close it's crazy and it's only the second day! Also we got to work out! Working out is of Heaven! Best thing ever! So I'll introduce later who "we" are it's my district! We do absolutely everything together!
Friday
Well guess what I did today! MORE CLASS! I am so tired of class! I hate it! I am learning quite a bit though which is great! We also got to teach our first "investigator" Ryan. He's really my instructor as one of his investigators, but it's still a great experience. We also got to work out again! Makes my day every time! I can't remember what else we did on Friday, sorry!
Saturday
We did more class... I don't like it we spend more time in class than we do in our residence! I guess that's how it's supposed to be, but it's still annoying! We learned how to become better missionaries and man is it stressful! I don't remember what else happened, sorry again!
Sunday
This day is the best besides Pday! I love the Sabbath! We did so much like Sacrament and Relief Society! We also went for a temple walk and it was the funnest, best thing ever! I got a ton of pictures so I'll send them! We also went to Choir which was fun and a cool Fireside! Elder Allen from the Missionary department talked to us! He is the funniest man! It was great! We also got to watch the Character of Christ from Elder Bednar! It was so good and it made me want to be better! It was amazing!
Monday
We went to class and we also had TRC which is teaching investigators. My investigators are Ny and Lawanna. They are both quiet and hard to teach and it's super annoying, but I love them anyway! Ny, I wouldn't blame her if she never wanted to talk with missionaries ever again! That's how bad our teaching went and it was horrible and I was like why am I even here. I suck and I want to go home. My instructor told me and my comp to stick it out until the second lesson. We did and it went so much better! I was like maybe I can make it as a missionary! It was pretty awesome! I have felt the spirit so strong here. Like all the time. I forgot what it feels like to not feel the spirit, but I rather feel this way than the other way!
Tuesday
Today is Pday and I only have one week left which is insane! I get to go to the temple later which I'm excited about, but other than that relax! I am super excited because I am so drained. It's like a spiritually high the whole time and it is so draining!
I love you all and miss you all so much! I hope your week went great! Also if you're worried about me don't be! I'm perfectly fine and I am having a blast! You're the best! Keep smiling and enjoy life! I love you all!
Love,
Sister Jacob (that's still weird to say, but I'm getting used to it)
So I'm having trouble downloading my pics, so you'll get them next week sorry!
I'll just tell you my district and comps name!
My comp is Sister Turner. My district is Sister Pfannensteil! I met her before I came into the MTC! I love her! Sister Tanner is her comp. The Elders are Elder Carlisle, Elder Stoddard, Elder Magallon, and Elder Kershner. They are the funniest people ever and I love them all! We are the best district ever! It's pretty great!
Well love you all! Have a great week!

Drop off to the MTC
One of the hardest things to do is drop your child off at the MTC. I'm proud of her for the decision she made to Serve the Lord. We will miss you like crazy!! Love you Sister Jacob!!!
