Hiya everyone!
Well I'll start off by finishing what happened in the MTC! I love the
MTC a lot I always had the spirit and I was able to make some of the
best friends I've ever had! I finally started warming up to everyone,
but it was on Sunday and Monday, my last two days at the MTC! Sorry
MTC family you know part of Sister Jacob, the part that is super
quiet!
I had the best companion in the world! Sister Turner was amazing and
psycho crazy! I love her guts! Everyone was like you're total
opposites! Why are you companions? Turns out we weren't so different
after all! She avoided me Tuesday morning because she didn't want to
say good bye! It was really annoying but understandable, I didn't want
to say good bye either!
So the highlight of the MTC was when my dear sweet Sister Turner was
singing the theme song to the Fresh Prince of Bell Air in the bathroom
and an investigator heard her! So when we walked out of the bathroom
we saw this lady just standing there watching us and it was super
awkward. She then told us that she heard us singing and wanted an
autograph! It was way funny, but she was actually there because the
missionaries that were supposed to be teaching her were sick so she
came over to our building to be taught and she wanted us to teach her!
It went amazing! Her name is Anne Parkes and she is from Nashville,
Tennessee so it was meant to be! The next day we taught her as a
district and Brother Wright (our teacher) asked her if she would be
baptized! She was unsure at first us then I shared 2 Timothy 1:7 with
her and then she said yes! So my first baptism (sort of) was in the
MTC! She is awesome!
Then on Tuesday bright and early me and a few of my zone family and
some other missionaries started our new adventure to
Georgia/Tennessee! It was a pretty stressful morning but after we got
settled on the plane it was nice and relaxing! They told us the
missionaries wouldn't sit by each other but we were all next to each
other which was great! I wasn't quite ready to talk to strangers yet!
We arrived at the mission home and President and Sister Griffin are
the absolute best! I've been so worried about the food but I'm pretty
sure my mom has messaged everyone in Tennessee about what a picky
eater I was because the food here is fantastic! My first night I had
my favorite! French Dips! It was like saying welcome home for 18
months! We also got to go to bed early at the mission home! It was
great!
The next day I got my new companion and area! I'm serving in the
Knoxville South area! It's great and I'm serving with Sister Blau! She
is very athletic and we are very much alike! So it's pretty quiet in
the car, apartment, basically anywhere except lessons! Tennessee makes
me motion sick quick! The roads are super windy, hilly, and narrow!
It's like an "Heart of Dixie" San Francisco!
The highlights of the week have been with my new investigators! The
Yang family and Campbell family! I have committed Allie Yang and Brian
Campbell to be baptized and they both said yes! We don't have dates
for them yet but we will soon! My comp and some members that help us a
lot were super impressed! They call me Sister Awesome! I wouldn't have
had the courage to do so if it wasn't for my Heavenly Father, Jesus
Christ, the Holy Ghost, and my great MTC teachers Brother Wright and
Sister Linford!
I love Tennessee and the people! It's been a little slow but I'm sure
the work will start picking up soon! I learned quite a bit in this
short 3 weeks of being a missionary! My favorite lesson is Alma 26:12
"Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore
I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his
strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we
have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever."
I am only a servant I and nothing without my Savior!
Well I love you all and I hope your week/day go great! Keep smiling!
Love and miss you! Sorry it's so long just so much happened!
Love,
Sister Jacob
